I’ve picked up a new hobby. In the past few months, I’ve become interested in golf, and if I do say myself, I’m becoming quite a player. As of about a month ago, I’ve actually started playing regularly. Up to this point, I’ve been lucky enough to play most every weekend. I’m completely hooked on it! It’s a game of strategy, precision, and more often then not, how well you can recover from an errant hit. My best game was a 106, but I usually shoot about 10-15 strokes higher than that. It’s infuriating when the ball doesn’t cooperate with where you want it to go, but when you hit that perfect shot it makes you want to keep playing the game. You could almost say the game is working from one great shot to the next, and as you get better the distance between those shots gets shorter. For me, who is still learning how to swing, how to stand, the etiquette of the game, etc, it’s all very exciting. I think I’ve started on a good foot, and hope to only get better. For a girl who loves to run around outside playing a sport, having a new one to add to my repertoire is amazing in and of itself. That it involves very little cardio, and is very much an individual sport, that I enjoy it as much as I do baffles me. I like to run around and work up a healthy sweat. But I finish rounds of golf just as tired as I do after several flag football or softball games. And that I get to play this sport with my Dad and close friends is just icing on the cake. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something new to try!
